Daniel Bergeson

Daniel Bergeson is the Co-Founder of Ascolta Ventures, LLC. Daniel has been active in the venture capital industry for over 35 years as a founder, counsel to numerous funds, and an investor. Daniel previously co-founded ASI Ventures with Al Shugart, the Founder and former CEO of Seagate Technologies. He also serves on the Board of Advisors of DOOR, a nonprofit focused on housing affordability.

In addition to Ascolta, Daniel is the founder of Bergeson, LLP. Bergeson, LLP is one of the nation’s leading business litigation law firms, with offices in Silicon Valley, San Francisco, and Beverly Hills. The firm represents companies in high-profile and high-stakes litigation throughout the nation. In 2025 and 2026, Daniel received national recognition when the Daily Journal named him one of the nation’s Leading Commercial Litigators for “bet-the-company” cases. He was named the “2020 San Jose Lawyer of the Year for Litigation – Securities” by Best Lawyers due to his extensive experience defending companies, directors, and officers in securities cases, including SEC investigations, class action lawsuits, and trials. Additionally, he has been honored as a Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation each year from 2019 to the present. Daniel consistently receives recognition from Best Lawyers in America, Northern California Super Lawyers, Elite Lawyer, and America’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators®. The American Institute of Trial Lawyers also named Daniel Litigator of the Year in 2023.

A Phi Beta Kappa and four-year member of the varsity crew team at Michigan State University, Daniel went on to earn his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. He currently serves on the Law School’s Development and Alumni Relations Committee, as well as its AI Advisory Council.

Daniel is an enthusiastic athlete, having competed in several triathlons, run the New York City Marathon, and competed in Masters Swim Competitions. Daniel also summited Mt. Kilimanjaro with Co-Founder Mike Abbott and is currently training to climb Aconcagua in Argentina.
